Re-Chord Brings Guitar Hero to Board Games

With real picks, chords, and songs to play, Re-Chord has struck a chord with board gamers. Funded in just 7 hours, the pattern matching game Re-Chord has reached $20,032 of its $7,500 goal. A single pledge of $29 gets you a copy of Re-Chord and all of its stretch goals, which have become substantial as the game has blasted away its milestones.

Re-Chord is a Game About Self Expression

Playing the guitar is more than just making music or sounds, it's an expression of self. When you pick up a guitar it's inevitable that you feel like a super star, because the instrument is simply that powerful.

Built for 1 to 5 players and taking about an hour to play, Re-Chord is a heavily themed game with a lot of unique components. Re-Chord contains a game box, 30 guitar picks, a pick bag, neoprene playmat, 5 genre cards, 1 rulebook, 36 chord cards, 36 song cards, and a score pad. The "Hungry Guitarist" version of the game, at $38, also includes "Stir Fry 18" a micro-game for 2 to 5 players. It's all extremely impressive for a box that costs less than $30 -- with free shipping to the United States.

Re-Chord uses real chords, giving players the chance to learn a little about guitar as they go through this "take that" style game. Picks serve the purpose of letting players take certain actions, such as turning picks upside down, swapping picks, or removing picks. Over time, players are able to build their popularity as a guitarist by completing their chord cards.

This is the second time Re-Chord has been on Kickstarter, but it appears the second time's the charm. So far, the unlocked stretch goals include new chord cards, a card stock upgrade, pick bag upgrades, a box upgrade, and an upgraded color score pad. The game is set to launch in September 2018.
